HMS Daedalus Airfield to host major commemorative event celebrating peace, resilience, and aviation history – 19-21 September 2025.
This summer, will see the return of the Victory Festival & Air Display, and this year we will be commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day and Victory over Japan (VJ) Day. Set to take place at the historic Lee-on-the-Solent airfield, this landmark event will pay tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the World War II generation while celebrating the peace and freedom their efforts helped secure.
Spanning an action-packed weekend, the festival will feature:
Spectacular Air Displays – Vintage warbirds, iconic aircraft, and modern aerial performances will fill the skies in a thrilling showcase of aviation past and present.
Live Music & Entertainment – Including big band performances, wartime tributes, and family-friendly acts evoking the spirit of the 1940s.
Heritage Exhibits & Talks – Explore military history with interactive displays, personal stories, and insights into the role Daedalus played during WWII.
Family Activities & Reenactments – Experience living history, meet re-enactors, and enjoy classic vehicles, food stalls, and period experiences.
As one of the RAF’s most historic sites, HMS Daedalus was a critical centre for Fleet Air Arm operations throughout the war. Hosting the Victory Festival at this location underscores the importance of remembering the past while inspiring the future.

The event also marks a significant moment in the regeneration of Daedalus Waterfront—connecting its proud military history to its future as a centre of innovation, education, and enterprise.
