William Murray, of The Daedalus Development Company, recently visited the Lee-on-the-Solent Bowls Club to unveil this season’s new uniforms, proudly sponsored by Daedalus Waterfront, reflecting the project’s commitment to community, heritage and local connection.
With a strong and lively turnout from members on a beautiful and windy morning, William was warmly welcomed and had the honour of bowling the first wood of the season. The visit created a valuable opportunity to connect with those closely tied to the area, including two former Wrens who worked at HMS Daedalus. Their shared memories highlighted the site’s rich history and the importance of preserving its legacy. A dedicated site visit is now being arranged for them, continuing that connection.
Alongside Trevor, Bowls Club President, and Kim Francis Ellis, Bowls Club Vice President, William also shared the vision for Daedalus Waterfront, outlining how the regeneration will honour the past while creating new opportunities for the community.
William told us “The Lee-on-the-Solent Bowls Club is a great example of what makes a strong community – with pride and purpose bringing people together to make and cement friendships. We couldn’t be prouder to have our version of the Daedalus badge – a symbol of this community for so long – to be once again part of the daily life of Lee-on-the-Solent.”
Moments like this reflect the wider ambition to restore pride, strengthen relationships, and ensure Daedalus remains a place of purpose for generations to come.
