The development team’s vision includes a commitment to strong ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) principles. We plan to implement several initiatives to remain in step with, and where possible, exceed regulations.

These include:

  1. All electric houses and apartments ahead of the Homes for 2025 deadline.
  2. Renovated homes will be retrofitted with energy-efficient appliances and effective insulation to reduce residents’ bills and emissions.
  3. Solar panels will be employed wherever appropriate to supplement existing energy sources with renewable power.
  4. An agreement has been signed to explore the feasibility of a renewable energy micro-grid for residents and workers.
  5. A sustainable transport plan to ensure residents and visitors have eco-friendly travel options to and from the Daedalus site, with initiatives such as a car club to minimise the impact on neighbouring communities.
  6. Encouraging electric vehicles through the widespread adoption of EV charging points.
  7. Cycle friendly streets, cycling vouchers and facilities and safe storage for bikes.
  8. Rejuvenation and creation of green areas, with hundreds of new native trees to be planted, encouraging wildlife and biodiversity.
  9. Target BREEAM Excellent for industrial buildings, which is above local planning requirements.
Building for a Healthy Life New public space

Building for a Healthy Life has been used to self-assess the plans submitted, as has the Building with Nature Framework, which demands high-quality green infrastructure, ensuring a positive outcome for the community and its wildlife.

A fresh start for HMS Daedalus

HMS Daedalus can once again be a crucial part of Lee-on-the-Solent, offering a link to its military history, and providing a world-class leisure destination celebrating 100 years of innovation and ingenuity.

New homes in historic buildings

The ambition is to create a complete community, with the provision of circa 270 new homes, and the refurbishment of the existing heritage buildings for a further 76 homes.

Support for the Hovercraft Museum

Daedalus Waterfront is actively supporting the museum, including funding a business plan to promote growth, leveraging our network to bring supporters, inputting creative ideas and providing financial support to help secure full funding.

New jobs and local economic value

The development will meet and grow local demand for small, medium and mid-sized industrial units, acting as a catalyst for the wider development.

Sustainable transport and parking strategy

The proposals have been designed to meet the needs of a modern community, where people can work effectively from home when it is possible to do so while also delivering an attractive environment to support the on-site employees.
